Descriptive Summary

This session examines current trends and risk factors contributing to mental and behavioral health crises. Participants will identify common crisis scenarios encountered in social work and behavioral health settings and review evidence-based interventions and community resources to support effective crisis response, safety planning, and stabilization.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion, participants will be able to:

  1. – Identify current trends and risk factors related to mental and behavioral health crises
  2. – Recognize common crisis situations encountered in professional practice
  3. – Apply evidence-based interventions in crisis response
  4. – Utilize appropriate community resources to support individuals in crisis

7:30 pm — Technology and Digital Health in Mental Health Care

Presenter:  Dr. Marina A. Badillo, LCSW

Descriptive Summary

This session explores the role of technology and digital health innovations in transforming mental health care delivery. Participants will evaluate digital tools and interventions, including telehealth platforms, and examine ethical, privacy, confidentiality, and access considerations relevant to digital behavioral health services.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion, participants will be able to:

  1. – Describe how technology is shaping modern mental health care
  2. – Evaluate digital tools and interventions for behavioral health support
  3. – Identify ethical and privacy considerations in digital mental health services
  4. – Assess access and equity issues related to technology-based care

Accreditation

Social Workers

The 1199SEIU League Training and Upgrading Fund SW CPE is recognized by the New York State Education Department’s State Board for Social Work as an approved provider of continuing education for licensed social workers under provider #0286. Licensed New York State (NYS) Social Workers are required to provide a NYS license number to receive a certificate of credit. This course is approved for three (3) continuing education hours.

 All Other Healthcare Professionals

All other healthcare professionals will receive a general certificate of attendance. Please check with your accreditation board with respect to receiving credit for this program.

Eligibility for 1199SEIU Members

Training and Employment Fund members

Members must have been a part-time or full-time employee for at least one year, work at least three-fifths of a regular workweek, and work for an employer who contributes to the 1199SEIU Training and Upgrading Fund or the 1199SEIU Greater New York Education Fund.

City of New York Education, Child and Eldercare Fund members

Pharmacists, Dietitians, Clinical Laboratory Practitioners and LPNs must have worked with NYC Health + Hospitals or a mayoral agency for at least one year.
