Behavior and obesity, review of prominent theories including Social-Cognitive, Theory of Planned Behavior, Cognitive-Behavioral, and the Transtheoretical Model. Understand their application and significance within Weight loss/Lifestyle interventions. The Transtheoretical Model is widely applied in weight loss/lifestyle interventions and segments individuals into one of five stages: precontemplation, contemplation, preparation, action, and maintenance. COVID19 and consideration of quarantines effect on lifestyle and perspective.

Learning Objective:

Connect the pieces between individual parameters, thoughts, emotion, behavior, and environmental feedback mechanisms. Grasp the broader causation and behavioral processes related to obesity.

Identify an individual’s stage of change and tailor their intervention appropriately. Review strategies and techniques used to graduate an individual from one stage to the next.

Understand various nutrition counseling strategies, their underlying methodology, and how to apply them.

Understand appropriate communication with help to facilitate maximum change and maintain successful practice.
