The impetus:
The unprecedented way Covid-19 has impacted our lives.
As the world is going through the Covid-19 pandemic, with New York City at its crux, NYC residents are following the stay-at-home order from the Governor. Pharmacists, however, are among the healthcare professionals who are essential employees and as such are working with patients either directly or indirectly to provide the necessary care. From hospital pharmacists providing bedside care or other inpatient duties, to community pharmacists filling and dispensing medications, and ambulatory care pharmacists working remotely to manage patient’s chronic diseases through telehealth, pharmacists are stepping up to meet the demands of these challenging times. This increased workload can place a significant amount of emotional burden on the pharmacists.
Activity Overview
The goal of this two-hour workshop will be to provide pharmacists with the knowledge and skills to cope with the emotional consequences associated with the COVID crisis. The workshop will examine three major areas of everyday life – 1) professional, 2) personal, and 3) family.
