Medical Nutrition Therapy for Hypertension: Part II

Evaluate current diet interventions which support the reduction of blood pressure. Differentiate between several diets and review the benefits. Review of case study involving comorbid conditions and ways to prescribe diets for hypertension with or without comorbidities. Discuss ways of providing education at the bedside for heart healthy eating.

Learning Objective:

  • Differentiate between diets that are aimed to treat hypertension (DASH, Mediterranean, vegetarian/vegan, whole food plant based).
  • Effectively prescribe multilevel diets targeting hypertension and those with comorbidities. Comfortably create a heart healthy diet plan at the bedside.
