Tools for Online Learning Success Workshop

Objective: Prepare college-level students in the culture of online course work by familiarizing them with the tools and techniques necessary to navigate and succeed in this challenging learning format.

Key topics include:

  • What is Online/Distance Learning?
  • Online Learning Terminology
  • Online Etiquette
  • Technological Requirements
  • Internet Research
  • Working with Complex Documents
  • Time Management
  • Online Communication (posting comments; responding to posts; submitting assignments)

Duration: Seven hours, the first 3.5 hours will be conducted in a computer lab at the Manhattan site. The second 3.5 hours will be taken online.

Format: Hybrid (Online and classroom)

Dates: Wednesday, June 19th

Time: 9:00am-12:30pm or 5:00pm-8:30pm

Location: 330 W 42nd St., 4th Fl., NYC; Computer Lab A (Room 1)

Requirements: Participants must have good computer skills, and are attending college, or preparing to begin college-level studies.  Participants will also need to have access to a device that can be connected to the internet in order to complete the online portion of the workshop.  The second portion of the workshop must be completed within seven days after taking the first in-person portion.

All participants who complete both portions of the workshop will be awarded a certificate upon completion.
