Delivering Culturally Competent Care

With our increasingly diverse patient population, it is critical that the nurse possess cultural competence, an essential skill, for all nurses regardless of practice setting and care delivery level. But how does a nurse become culturally competent? It begins by knowing yourself, your knowledge, attitude, skill, and belief so you can apply culturally competent care that will support caring for people across different languages and cultures.
