Addiction and Recovery

People abuse substances such as street drugs for varied and complicated reasons, but it is clear that our health care system, the patient, and society as a whole pay a significant cost. The toll for this abuse is now in epidemic proportions and is seen throughout the healthcare system in acute care, emergency rooms, outpatient centers and more. The use of some drugs such as cocaine has which has declined in the last decade is now on the increase along with the use of other drugs such as heroin. This workshop will examine addiction in relationship to recovery and focus on assessment and recovery.
